Privacy Policy
Last updated 25 October 2026
This policy explains what Solais collects when you use app.solaisglobal.com, why, who sees it, how long we keep it and the rights you have. We wrote it in plain language. If anything is unclear, email admin@solaisglobal.com.
Who we are
Solais, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33312, USA, is the "controller" of your information: we decide how it is used. Solais is currently run by its founder and is not yet a registered company. Solais is not a law firm and does not give legal advice.
Representative in the European Union: being appointed; details will appear here.
Representative in the United Kingdom: being appointed; details will appear here.
What we collect
- Your email address, to send you sign-in links and news about your matter.
- Where you live (US, UK, EU or elsewhere) and your confirmation that you are 18 or over.
- Your story: the answers you type, including anything about other people involved.
- Consent records: what you agreed to, which version and when.
- Your matter's progress: when you sent it, which law firm it went to, and that firm's reply.
- Contact details you choose to give a law firm, such as your name and phone number.
- Technical information: your IP address and browser details in short-lived server logs, and the sign-in cookies described in our Cookie Policy.
We do not use advertising, analytics or tracking tools in the app, and we never sell your information.
Sensitive information
Legal stories often include sensitive details, such as your health, an injury, immigration status, a crime, your race or ethnicity, your sex life or sexual orientation, a disability, religion or beliefs, or your finances. Under European and UK law these are "special category" data. We only use them with your explicit consent, which you give on the "Before you begin" screen, and only to understand your matter and pass it to one law firm if you choose. Our Health Data Policy covers health details in more depth.
What you tell Solais may not be protected by attorney-client privilege. Leave out anything you would not want a court or the other side to see, and tell the law firm directly instead.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
| What we do | Legal basis (EU and UK) |
|---|---|
| Run your account, save your answers, show you your summary | Providing the service you asked for (contract) |
| Read your story and match it to a suitable law firm | Contract, plus your explicit consent for sensitive details |
| Send your matter to one law firm | Your consent, given when you press send |
| Use AI to suggest the area of law and the state | Your explicit consent (see how we use AI) |
| Keep the service secure and prevent misuse | Our legitimate interest in protecting you and the service |
| Keep records we are required to keep, and respond to legal requests | Legal obligation |
Who can see your information
- You, at any time after you sign in.
- Our review team, only after you send your story. Only a small number of named staff can read sent intakes.
- One law firm, only after you send your story and our team matches it to them. We match on objective points: the area of law, the location, and whether the firm is taking new matters. Before the firm reads your story, it sees only your name, the names of the other people involved, the area of law, the place and the dates, so it can check for conflicts of interest. It gets your email and phone only if it accepts. Participating firms pay Solais a flat subscription. It never depends on which matters a firm takes, how many it takes or their outcome, and Solais never takes any part of a lawyer’s fee. When your story is sent, we tell you the city or county where that firm’s office is. Solais does not vouch for any firm's quality. A firm that takes your matter becomes responsible for what it holds.
- Service providers that process data for us under written contracts (below). They may only use it to provide their service to Solais.
- Authorities, only if the law requires it. Where allowed, we will tell you first.
Service providers
| Provider | What it does | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database and sign-in emails. Stores your account, answers and consent records. | United States |
| Vercel | Hosts the app. Handles each page request, including your IP address, and keeps short-lived server logs. | United States |
| Anthropic (Claude) | AI used by our team to sort intakes you have sent by area of law and location. | United States |
| Resend | Sends emails: updates to you about your matter (to your email address), and alerts to our team and to law firms that something is waiting. None of these emails include your story or contact details. | United States |
Transfers outside Europe
Solais and its providers are in the United States. If you live in the UK or EU, your information is transferred to the US under the safeguards the law allows: the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and its UK extension where a provider is certified, or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (with the UK addendum). You can ask us for a copy of these safeguards.
How long we keep it
- Your account, answers and matter: until you delete your account.
- If you never send your story and do not sign in for 24 months, we delete your account.
- Consent records: for as long as we hold your information, plus up to 6 years, to show we had your consent.
- Server logs: up to 30 days.
- Backups: overwritten within 30 days of deletion.
- A law firm that has accepted your matter keeps its own copy under its own professional rules. Ask that firm directly about its copy.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of your information (access and portability);
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete your information: you can do this yourself from your account page;
- stop or limit how we use it, or object to a use based on our legitimate interests;
- withdraw your consent at any time, by deleting your account or emailing us. This does not affect what we did before.
Email admin@solaisglobal.com from the address you sign in with. We reply within 30 days and do not charge. You will never be treated differently for using your rights.
If you live in the UK you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). If you live in the EU you can complain to the data protection authority where you live or work. If you live in a US state with its own privacy law, you can contact that state's Attorney General. We would like the chance to fix things first.
Anonymous statistics
We count patterns across stories, such as which areas of law, places and languages are hardest to find help for, and how long people wait. We use these counts to improve Solais and to show where people cannot get legal help. They never include names, contact details or what anyone wrote, we do not publish a count about fewer than 10 people, and we never sell them. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in improving access to legal help.
Decisions about you
No decision about you or your matter is made by a computer alone. AI may suggest the area of law and the state, but a person on our team always reads your story and decides what happens next.
Children
Solais is only for people aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly collect information from children. A parent or guardian can tell a child's story on their behalf. If you think a child has used Solais, email us and we will delete the account.
How we protect it
- All connections are encrypted (HTTPS), and data is encrypted at rest by our database provider.
- There are no passwords to steal: you sign in with a one-time email link.
- Database rules make sure each person can only reach their own information, and each law firm only the matters sent to it.
- Only named staff accounts can read sent intakes, and the database checks this on every request.
- If a breach puts your information at risk, we will tell you and the authorities within the time the law requires (72 hours to European regulators, and within 30 days to people affected under Florida law).
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that affects you, we will tell you by email or when you next sign in, and ask for your consent again where the law requires it.
